Susan G. Tataryn, BComm, CPA, CA, LLB, TEP


Susan G. Tataryn has been an advisor for almost 20 years to various businesses from small independents to large enterprises, including those in the construction, financial, health care, technology and life science sectors while also working with artists, designers and others in the fashion, entertainment and hospitality industries.

Susan is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan where she obtained Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws degrees. She obtained the Chartered Accountant (CA) designation in 1990. She was called to the Saskatchewan bar in 1993 and the Ontario bar in 2000.

Her accounting and tax background, including her experience as a clerk to various judges of the Tax Court of Canada, and as tax litigation counsel with the federal Department of Justice enables her to provide unique perspective in business transactions, as well as in litigation. She continues to appear before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Tax Court of Canada, the Federal Court - Trial Division and the Federal Court of Appeal on income tax and GST issues.

Susan has written a number of tax articles and has taught accounting at the University of Saskatchewan and tax at the Law Society of Upper Canada Bar Admission Course. She is a frequent speaker to accountants on current tax law issues.

She co-founded a Capital Pool Company traded on the Toronto Venture Stock Exchange which was bought by Hamilton Thorne, as well as a company providing legal support solutions to sole practitioners and small law firms.

She currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Youth Services Bureau as First-Vice Chair. She previously sat on the Board of Directors of Prevent Cancer Now, the Hills of Erin Cancer Prevention Foundation and Big Brothers and Big Sisters Ottawa.

Jean-Michel Cazabon, BSocSc, JD

Jean_Michel_CazabonJean-Michel joined Tataryn Law in early 2017. After completing his articles with the federal Department of Justice, at both the Canada Revenue Agency and Tax Law Services section in 2016, he joined the private sector. Jean-Michel spent significant time working in various government sectors including Health Canada, the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (now Global Affairs Canada), and Employment and Social Development Canada. He relies on his experience and insight into government processes to help Canadian taxpayers.

Prior to joining Tataryn Law, Jean-Michel completed an internship with the Human Rights Advocacy Centre in Accra, Ghana. Though he only services clients in English, Jean-Michel uses his French language capabilities to the advantage of his clients.

Jean-Michel has worked on, among other matters, HST Input Tax Credit issues, business and employment expense disputes, negotiated payment arrangements, and requests for reduced interest and penalty charges. He has appeared before both the Tax Court of Canada, and the Public Service Labour Relations and Employment Board.

Tara Robinson-Bussiere

Tara is a law clerk/administrator with over thirteen years of experience. Tara has acquired and developed expertise with all aspects of Corporate/Business/Tax law practice and the preparation of Wills and Trusts. She has extensive experience in drafting and preparing corporate and commercial documents for tax and corporate planning and maintenance, and purchase and sale of business entities, as well as drafting and preparing various court documents, arranging for filing and issuing of documentation at various court and government offices.

She is responsible for the day-to-day business of the firm and assists our lawyers and clients in all aspects of our practice.

Tara is a Commissioner of Oaths and a Licensed Paralegal with the Law Society of Ontario.

Tara and her husband, Paul, have been married since 1996 and they have two adult children, Kirsten and Sarah.
